Frequently asked questions
I bought How Long Pro. How do I get it back on a new phone?
Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple Account you used to buy it. Pro usually comes back on its own when you open How Long: the Profile tab then shows How Long Pro as unlocked. If it shows See the time you've won back instead, tap that card, then tap Restore Purchases at the bottom of that screen. You will not be charged again. If it says it couldn't reach the App Store, check your connection and tap Try Again.
How does iCloud sync work?
If you are signed in to iCloud, How Long syncs your tasks and history through your own private iCloud account, so they appear on your other devices with the same Apple Account. Check that iCloud is on for How Long in Settings > [your name] > iCloud. Syncing needs an internet connection and can take a few minutes. We cannot see or restore your iCloud data, because it is stored only in your account.
Why am I asked about notifications?
The first time you start a timer in the app, How Long asks whether it may send notifications. It uses them to remind you if a timer has been running for a while, in case you forgot to stop it. Saying no is fine; the app works the same, just without reminders. With How Long Pro, the optional "Habit reminder" (Profile > Settings > Reminders) also uses notifications: if you haven't been asked yet, turning it on asks, and if notifications are off, the app points you to Settings to turn them on. You can change this any time in Settings > Notifications > How Long.
How do I delete my data?
To delete a single timed session, open the task and swipe left on the session. Swiping a task off your list archives it: it is hidden, but its history is kept.
There is no "erase all data" button yet. Deleting the app removes its data from that iPhone, but if iCloud is on, a copy stays in your iCloud account and comes back when you reinstall. To remove that copy too, go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Manage Account Storage, choose How Long, and delete its data. See the privacy policy for details.
Does How Long collect my data?
No. There are no accounts, analytics or ads. Read the privacy policy.
